Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Eliminating waste and toxins

Why have lymphatic drainage?

The purpose of the Lymphatic system is to help the body to defend itself against infections.  If the lymphatic system can not function properly, it can cause infections, blockages and cancer.  Symptoms can include: difficulty moving, hard or tight skin, swelling, poor sleep and pain.  It is a very important part of the body to keep healthy and can be promoted into a daily self care plan.  Home techniques will be shown during your appointment.

We do this by utilising  very light pressure combined with soft pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes.  Deep breathing during the treatment will open deep lymphatic pathways.  These deep breaths help to calm down the parasympathetic nervous system.  This enables the sympathetic nervous system to take over, which in turn allows the body to rest and heal and then the magic of the lymphatic system takes over and helps in so many ways.

It's a very gentle technique, that many find very relaxing.
